Man wounded by Pierce County deputy at home visited 127 times by police

BONNEY LAKE, Wash. -- A razor-wielding man was wounded by a Pierce County sheriff's deputy during the serving of multiple warrants early Tuesday morning.

Deputies and a SWAT team with their auto task force headed to a home well known for its past criminal activity in the 11600 block of 206th Avenue Court East. near Bonney Lake around 5:30 a.m. to serve the warrants for auto theft, drugs and fraud, said Det. Ed Troyer with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.

As SWAT team members approached the home, they spotted two men on the front porch, and one was holding a razor blade, Troyer said. Deputies ordered the man to drop the razor, but he refused, and one deputy shot the man in the knee, Troyer said. The 34-year-old man was taken to a local hospital and was expected to recover.

Deputies recovered the razor blade and once the scene is processed, it will be turned over to the auto theft task force to finish their search for drugs, guns, firearms, stolen cars and motorcycles believed to be at the home, Troyer said.

Troyer said his deputies have been called to that home 127 times over the past 21 years for such crimes as burglaries, domestic violence, heroin overdose, meth, noise complaints, road rage, suicide threats, theft, fraud and a drive-by shooting. That tally doesn't include the incident Tuesday morning.
